“A Wedding Dress is both intimate and personal for a Woman - it must reflect the personality and style of the Bride." - Caroline Herrera

Choosing your Dress is easily one of the most exciting parts of planning your Wedding … but rather than choosing your dress, have you ever dreamt of designing your own dress and walking down the aisle in the bespoke Wedding Dress you designed!?

Well Ladies now that dream is a reality…

Deborah Coates offers a Bespoke Bridal ‘Couture’ service for Brides who want something truly bespoke and unique for the Wedding Day.

Her bespoke service allows you to be involved in the whole design process from the initial sketch to chosen fabrics and colour palette, through to discovering the true artistry of couture Bridal fashion all from her beautiful boutique in Bromsgrove.

Tell me about your Business… and a little bit about YOU

I have been designing from a very early age. I would watch every old movie and be in awe of the costumes, loving the detail, the drama and versatility those outfits exuded. I studied for a BA (Hons) in Fine Art to develop my drawing and sculpting skills and shortly afterwards I started designing women'swear and making for friends. This has evolved into a business that really has grown through word of mouth.

My boutique in Worcester Road, Bromsgrove, holds a stunningly elegant collection of Ready to Wear Occasion Wear and I offer a ‘Couture’ design service to those clients wanting something truly unique.

How does the design process work?

The ‘Couture’ service for Brides or wedding guests starts with an initial consultation. You will come armed with pictures and ideas and I will bring to life your dream dress with an illustration of a combination of my signature style, e.g. elegant, vintage inspired and tailored to work with your shape, along with your desired effect to create something special for your important day.

I then work closely with my London based atelier team to work on creating a toile, (mock-up) of your design and after 2-3 toile fittings with me, when everything little detail has been resolved, we then go on to make your beautiful individual garment/s, made to your measurements, made to balance your figure perfectly and all under my watchful eye.

Mother of the Bride or Groom clients particularly like this service as they know they are in ‘good hands’ as I will hand-hold every aspect of their overall look advising on shoes, bags and head-wear so the whole look is cohesive and balanced and hits exactly the right tone for their son or daughter's wedding.

Why you love your business

I love making women feel beautiful, it really is a goose-bump moment when my clients start to swirl around in their dress knowing they look their absolute best because every detail has been worked on.

The fabric, the colour, the texture, the balance, and finally that it truly represents who they want to be.

Tell us about your studio/workspace? Can couples visit you?

I have a studio based at my boutique where you can come alone or with family members for an initial consultation to explore the ‘Couture’ service and if you wish to try on designs from my Ready to Wear collection.

N.B All appointments are by prior arrangement.

Who would be your dream client? Dream collaboration?

I have worked with clients that have had TV coverage and that’s always a great feeling to know your work has reached so many people.

I do have a dream collaboration in the pipeline with a popular English actress but that one is under wraps at the moment!
