How having my picture taken helped me to realise my true passion

Updated: Oct 30, 2021

For a while, I had been flirting with the idea of getting a branding shoot done. I have to admit, I don’t see myself as very photogenic. I am ALWAYS the one in the image with a double chin or looking the wrong way!

So, when it came to a photoshoot that would ultimately have to include me, I was a little apprehensive about spending the money!

Aside from how I felt about having my picture taken, deep down I knew just how important it was to me to get images that truly captured the essence of my wedding markets.

My wedding markets are completely unique in their design, and not just another alternative Wedding Fair. The markets showcase traditional wedding suppliers but more importantly feature talented local artisan makers, designers, and creative small businesses. The markets give couples to a truly authentic shopping experience, allowing them to purchase bespoke, one-of-a-kind pieces to help them inject more of their personality into their wedding day.

The markets are the perfect place to source a bespoke, handcrafted piece of jewellery, a local supplier to create a bouquet made of paper flowers featuring your favourite books, or even a specially commissioned hand-drawn image of your wedding venue.

Now how to get all of that information above into an image...

I think we nailed it!

And who may you ask was my Photographer of choice? It was of course Charlotte Burn Photography, and she was amazing!

We have a pretty similar sense of humour, passion for the Wedding Industry, and both love a cup of tea!

We worked closely together in the weeks running up to the shoot, with Charlotte ensuring that she understood all about RubyBelle Events and what I stand for. We talked in great detail about how the branding shoot was important to visually represent to couples, the personal touches and details that can be purchased from a RubyBelle Events wedding market for their wedding days.

She helped advise me on how to ensure that the story of the markets and the products would shine through the images, but most of all, on the day, she made me feel at ease and we spent the whole day at the gorgeous Crossbrook Farm, laughing!

Handpicking the items to be showcased in the shoot was by far my favourite part!

I am so passionate about my wedding market concept, that it was important for me to ensure that it was obvious the products I had chosen had been designed with heart and soul, from a local businesses kitchen table or home studio, rather than a large faceless factory.

After the experience I have to say, it is actually so lovely to have images of me. As an event organiser I am generally on the other side of the camera taking the picture, so it is nice to see my face.
