You are my greatest adventure | Autumnal woodland styled shoot at The Nest, Ledbury

Updated: Oct 30

2020 was a very strange and trying time for the Wedding Industry, but I was so grateful of the break (brief but still a break) in Lockdown in October that allowed us to come together in the surroundings of the gorgeous Nest in Ledbury to get back to doing what we all do best.

COVID-19 has been so damaging to our industry since March 2020, so for me to be able to help support and showcase these amazing local, independent, creative and most definitely dedicated (it got cold towards the end!) wedding businesses with an inspirational shoot made me so happy!

One silver lining of COVID-19 (not that there are many!) is that rather than use Models we got to use a real-life couple Robyn & Phil which made the whole shoot that little bit more special

The Nest in Ledbury is a hidden gem of a Wedding Venue with a magnificent double height festival yurt that sits beautifully nestled in amongst the mixed fruit orchards!

The initial ideas for the styled shoot came from the stunning cathedralesque, natural outdoor ceremony area they call “the clearing” which is situated within the woodland behind the Yurt. The perfect outdoor ceremony space for our Adventure Couple!

It was important to me that the style and feel of the shoot should be sympathetic but to add a little glamour to the venues perfect blank canvas.

When choosing suppliers to work with, it was important to me that they had to be local and have a creative style to help me to bring my vision to life and showcase The Nest perfectly.

Dearest Love Photography captured the images for the shoot - I am such a massive fan of Dearest Love’s work as Kerri & Jim have so much passion and a fabulous artistic flair.

The idea began with a pair of walking boots! We paired the boots with a Marys Bridal gypsy-style Wedding dress from Tamsins Bridal Boutique in Kidderminster because it was perfect for the feel of the shoot. Handmade jewellery modelled on nature and bespoke Engagement and Wedding Ring designed by Elizabeth Terzza, Home grown British flowers from Camomile & Cornflowers and a stunning burnt orange fedora and gorgeous Boho elements of Macrame handcrafted by Lilly Dillys finished off Robyn’s look perfectly!

Phil looked dapper in a suit from Carter Esquire, a gorgeous dried buttonhole from Camomile and Cornflowers, handmade bowtie and pocket square by Lilly Dillys and handmade cufflinks and bespoke Wedding Ring by Elizabeth Terrza. The Nest is a dog friendly venue so we invited Rusty Elizabeth’s Cocker Spaniel to the shoot and Neil and penny's dog Pearl got in on the action too! Dog Accessories designed by Lilly Dillys. THE VENUE + STYLING

Neil and Penny who own the Nest have a wonderfully quirky style and I wanted to reflect this in the styling of the Table in the centre of the orchard. We used furniture from in and around the Yurt and Café mismatched and unusual.

We set the table with vintage cut-glass glassware and textured ceramic plates, complete with gold cutlery from Country Crockery Hire which was perfectly styled with Charlotte Arntzen Designs hand calligraphed leather place cards, apples from the orchard and Miniature Chocolate Bar favours made by Sue Gilmour Chocolates.

Kate from Camomile and Cornflowers decorated the table with bud vases full of a mixture of homegrown British Flowers from her cutting patch and we added a touch of scent with candles from Evoqua candles.

The Nest Café Kitchen provided grazing style Tapas plates that placed down the centre of the table.

The Wedding Cake design and autumnal faux and real flower topper collaboration between Home Farm Kitchen & The Letter Loft was a dream come true! The perfect centrepiece for an intimate Woodland Wedding.

As well as the walking boots I asked Betsy Benn to provide engraved leather Passport holders which were added into the table décor. Just what a couple need to start their adventures together.

As the Yurt is so versatile we also styled a Luxe wedding celebration utilising the gorgeous fairy lights that adorn the inside and outside of the yurt and orchards.

Robyn’s Luxe look we paired the absolutely stunning long sleeved Georgia Bridal “Amelia” dress with bespoke rose gold Engagement and Wedding Ring and Acorn styled necklace designed by Elizabeth Terzza, Home grown British flower bouquet with hand dyed ribbon from Camomile & Cornflowers and a stunning leatherette headpiece designed and handmade by Lilly Dillys.

Rebecca Claire, our hairstylist and Makeup Artist, was in her element and created two beautiful styles – both of which were soft and romantic continuing the informal and relaxed style of the shoot but adding some glamour to the Evening Style.

Phil looked dapper in Tuxedo Suit from Carter Esquire, handmade feather Navy bowtie by Lilly Dillys and handmade cufflinks and bespoke Wedding Ring by Elizabeth Terrza.

With the tablescape inside the yurt I wanted to add a little more formality but still bring the beauty of nature inside.

The table was set with a white table cloth and napkins with the centre of the table decorated with british flowers and foliage, Country Crockery Hire vintage cut-glass glassware, textured ceramic plates and cutlery and styled with Charlotte Arntzen Designs hand lettered stationery with a Navy Ribbon accent.

As well as the floral centrepiece Camomile + Cornflowers hung a large floral hoop display above the table from the centre of the Yurt.

Home Farm Kitchen created a Navy and gold accented 3 tier Wedding cake adorned with real flowers, and the whole look was finished off with a gorgeous backdrop styled by Storm Creative Events.

The darkness really bought out the romantic side of the table in the orchard all lit by festoon lights. The smoke bomb created these gorgeous dramatic atmosphere images. I am absolutely in love!

Isn't it just truly amazing what can be created when you bring together talented independent, creative & local Wedding businesses!
